MY Dear Uncle
I am almost
ashamed of myself for not
replying to your ever welcome
letter sooner but I hope you
will forgive me and I will try and
do better after this. I intended
visiting after Grandfather's death
and Johnnie Walker said I
needn't hurray [hurry?] he had sent
you word we had just moved
and weren't settled when he
died and we have moved since
so you see we have had lots
to do. This is my first slack
time this season. Mother and
Father are out at the farm
just now Father has been
out nearly all the summer
he has been looking after
the Bees. We have had a
splendid Bee harvest and
other harvests as well. We
extracted about Ten hundred
pounds this season it sells
at Ten cents a pound My Brother
gave up the milk business and
my eldest brother intends moving
in the Fall. I think he has
rented over two hundred acres
it is about two and a half miles
from Uncle Kirks. Poor
old Grand father lived to his
Golden Wedding but not long
after Poor old man he was
so pleased we presented him
with a large Easy Chair and
he enjoyed it so much
but it is what we all must
expect sooner or later but he
suffered very much Mother
nursed him till the last. Grand
mother is smart considering
but we will not have her
much longer, how is Auntie
and Andrew have none of you
decided to visit Canada yet
I have concluded to visit Ireland
when I feel able for it. I
had a splendid chance but
didn't hear about it till
it were to late A lady was
going and wanted a young
girl for Company but she
had a girl engaged before
her sister knew that I would
go but I am living in
hopes to see the other side
some day You wanted me
to go on my wedding trip
I think I'll have to marry an
Old Presbyterian if I do I am
acquainted with a Mr. Francis
here in Hamilton who knows
all the Lowries well he is
acquainted with your sons I think
he was a commercial traveller
when in Ireland. If I am not
mistaken he has their picture
Aunt Walker has been very
poorly. I haven't heard from
Gerald Grimley lately. Well uncle
I hope you will excuse me
for not replying sooner
and answer. I have been yearning
to hear from you but I could
not expect you
hoping you
will reply
soon I remain
your loving
niece
