Transcript | A. D. Cruickshank Lawyer. Charlevoix, Mich., [Michigan?] 8/11/'99. 189 Messrs Peel & Sons, Counsellors at Law, Armagh, Ireland. Gentlemen:- Miss Elizabeth Mackie, who is now at this place with friends, has conculted [consulted?] me in relation to some business affairs of her's in your vicinity. She informs me that you have some information in relation to her rights in a farm in your country, upon which her Uncle is now residing and has been for sometime past as the tenant of her father. She says that she gave you some papers relating to this property, and referred me to you as being able to give me some information as to the title of this property. Would you be kind enough to give me what information you have in relation to this and other matters that may be within your knowledge concerning this young lady's property interests there, in order that I may be able to advise her more fully in regard to these matters. She expresses herself as having implicit confidence in your firm, and her friends here and herself seem desirous to have affairs looked after over there, and she will undoubtedly desire you to do so, as she has been doing business with a lawyer at Rosemary, and from her statements, and from some papers I have examined, it would seem that this lawyer is taking advantage of this young lady. Hoping to hear from you in due time in relation to this matter, when I will communicate with you further, thanking you for your attention to this in advance, I remain, Very respectfully yours, A. D. Cruickshank |
