Transcript | COPY. Carlos Pettersson Enrique S. deVries ((( AGENCIA GENERAL ))) de La Compania de Luz "Standard" ---E.S. de Vries y Compania Propietarios--- ... Luz Incandescente de Gazolina. ... Mexico, 8 de August 1900 Mr. or Mrs. F.C. Marsh Chicester Gardens Antrim Road Belfast. Dear Sir or Madam or both:- Mr. William J. Walpole Died here at the Hospital of the Mexican National R.R. [Railroad?] on the 6th day of June last and there was found among his papers your address on a Christmas card and for that reason I write to you without knowing who you are, but I, half suspect that you are intimate relatives - perhaps sister and brother-in-law. Personal effects and money he left scarcely any thing, but he did leave a lot of land that some day may become very valuable. If you are his nearest relative or can put them in communication with me through the British consul here or direct, more information may be had. Mr. Walpole was a very intimate friend of mine. He died of a sore heel. First very painful at times, then he could not walk, and then gangrene set in. At last his foot had to be amputated, but blood poison set in and in a few days afterwards he breathed his last. His sufferings were horrible but he had great fortitude and patience. He refused to talk about his relatives and mundane matters before he died. He lies buried in lot 124, section C of the new American Cemtery [Cemetery?] near this city. I enclose you a flower from his grave from the wreaths sent by his friends. Yours very truly, Henry S. de Vries Received the original of this to lodge with Land Commission 6 [Bigyn Rhahan?] 3 07 |
