Transcript | Prescott. Ont. [Ontario?] 10th Decb 1874 Revd & Dr [Reverend & Dear?] Sir - Your favour of the 30th ultimo Came duly to hand Governing Power from the Miss Boyds no favour of Revd W [?] Hastir[?] to draw the Legacies left them by the late Revd. W.[?] Boyd. I now take the liberty of addressing you to inform you that the ($1000) one thousand Dollars was paid over to the Revd. Gentleman without discount, we [Ex--.?] having no expenses to charge against the young ladies. Revd W [?] Hastis[?] at once handed the Executors check to the Merchants Bank here instructing them to procure for [------?] draft on Ireland [----?] whatever it would [-----?] handed the Draft [-----?] and mailed it to you last week which I trust you will have received before this reaches you - I note what you say on the bottom of your letter relative to interest being due as no July Remittance had been received, in reply to this I have only to add that the late Dr. will close not show that any monies was put out to interest for the Miss Boyds - and the legacies left by him was Payable at the death of Mrs Boyd - I know that the Dr. always sent about twice a year a remittance to Miss Ann & Mary & after his death I heard Mrs Boyd say that as long as she lived and was able she would make the same remittance to those two young ladies - and poor woman if she had lived until July I have no doubt but she would have done so, but of course we as Executors have no authority to do more than is laid down for us in the will #PAGE 2 we must fulfill the trust invested in us in every particular as near right as possible. Will you please let me know if the Draft reached you in safety and much oblige - I remain Revd and Dear Sir Yours very faithfully M. Dowsley [Ex?] [On back of letter] 10 Dec 1874 Letter from Mr Dowsley (Canada) abt [about?] legacy to the Miss Boyds Re Boyds legacy of America |
