Transcript | Antrim 18th August 1828 Mrs Duffin Oakland Broughshane Dear Mother I take this opportunity of writing to you. We went to Mr Magill's meeting house yesterday, where Mr Stewart preached, as Mr Magill went to Broughshane but we could not get seeing him, as we had to leave it before 2 o clock to go to Moilena [Moylinny], where we dined and drank tea along with Hugh Carley, and the 2 Hardys. Please write to some of us very soon and tell us whether the children are gone or not, and send me a pair of shoes as the ones I am wearing are in need of mending. Mrs Carley got a servant last week who used to live with Mrs J Cuningham [Cunningham?] and I believe Mrs Carley likes her very well. Adam is now quite well and joins with me in love to you and all at home, I am truly your affectionate son Charles Duffin |
