William Watson Esq., Dear Sir, The bearer Mr Joseph Searight purposes going to your City to push his fortune - He lived several years with us as Book keeper in our Woollen House and conducted himself, honestly; he is sober, honest, & attentive to business - and he understands it, and we regretted his leaving us; I can recommend him, and I have no doubt he will be a gain to whoever employs him, For integrity & tuition [-----ss?] I have seldom,in 32 years found his equal and if you can do him good I will consider it as done to myself Your father is much as usual Francis Hugh & Mariam, & child are well Mrs Armstrong & my family are well I hope Mrs Watson & your family are well and remain, My dear Sir Yours truly Wm.
