Transcript | Oxford, Mich. [Michigan?] May 20 1891 Mrs Annie Weir, Dear Friend Received your letter about two weeks ago, but I mailed one the same day I received yours with baby picture You said you could not make out what was the season I was still here well I will tell you. I got started as far as B.Ham [Birmingham?] and my baby was sick all night and in the morning Bob and Rob [Robert?] & Pa coaxed me over & over not to go for fear of losing Willie & they told me that we would see hard times and if Thomas should die I would be in a bad position among strangers with out a dollar in the world. So Rob & Bob and myself wrote to [Thomas?] and asked him to come back I told him Baby and I were both feeling ill and I told him I would send him his passage back to Detroit. But when I got my answer he said he would not comeback now. he said he might come back some time but not yet. I had sold my things providing I went I had not got any money on them, but John had it to give me if I went but he has used it now and I have my things. last week I had two letters from Thomas saying he would come back if I would send him $25 he said he would start as soon as he got it and come right to Detroit, but I have not got only between $15 & $17 now while I was in B-Ham [Birmingham?] I had the Grippe & I had to get medicine for Baby & myself, and my expence [expense?] of going to B-Ham [Birmingham?] and other things I got thinking I was going to Glasgow took a good bit of money, Rob said if I wouldnt go he would get the money for me to send to Thomas if he would come back but Rob cant get it and I have tried to get $18 from some one. but I cant, so I cant send him the $25 - I have worried night and day about it I dont know whether to send $15 or not I cant get $25 to send every body around here is out of money. now Annie I ask your advice what to do about it would you send $15 and tell him I could not get the other ten dollars or what would you do I cant sleep nights, for fretting and worrying I would like your advice what to do. write as soon as you get this, and tell me what to do. I thought I could get it last week and I wrote & told him I would send it this week but I cant get it and what am I to do after promising to send it, it seems to me that I had ought to send it. Baby is well & runs all over - he calls me Ada most of the time he hears the rest call me that part of the time he calls me Mama will say a few words, I was in hopes I would have a chance to see you but [Bud?] brought me home on Sunday. Why cant you come out sometime this summer & stay over night If Thomas comes back as I am in hopes he will I will soon be able to ask you to stay over as long as you wish I will never forget your good visit in the city. I enjoyed your company so much I saw Will B- at a distance in B-Ham [Birmingham?] the other Will Bell told me it was him. Sophias health is real poor poor girl she has a bad time of it she is not well at all. I will be glad when she is over it. did you get Millie's picture all right.
