From:
Liverpool 22. April 1844

Dear William,
The last party of your people
got off yesterday all in excellent humour & I
must say most grateful they all appeared
for the trifling friendship or attention I
tried to shew [show?] them. They one and all
desired I should write to let you know
how they prayed for your success as
they termed it-
The ready cash they
all got daily done much for them, &
tended to make them very cheerful.
I seen Mr Ganatt last night he
is improving, but not able to get out
yet. I told him how strongly you
felt for him, & for which he is very thankful
We are all sorry to hear of Bess being so
sadly tortured could she not have got the
troublesome member filled it is very generally
done here & invariably with good effect
I am desired to enquire how Tommy
Johnston gets on perhaps you will think
on & make Wm [William?] or Billey George ansr. [answer?] this
query - Please tell Wm [William?] to write by Wednesdays
post to say what may be the probable
number for Quebec - The passage to
Newyork [New York?] still runs so high parties going
that way would do well to wait till [until?] about
the middle of May - but those for Quebec
must get away soon else they must
wait for the second trip of the ships say
about July
Most truly yours
Thos [Thomas?] Elliott
