Transcript | To Mr. W. G. Smith Carrickmacross Ireland From: Liverpool 13 March 1847 Dear Willliam, We have at length got a favourable change of Wind which is now bringing up a number of large ships & therefore expect in a day or two to have our suspense set aside respecting vessels for Quebec. However no doubt exists but 2 or 3 will be ready to receive Passengers by the appointed time first week in April, but terms are & will be high. Numbers have engaged Passages for Quebec here already at £3-5-0. So anxious are parties to secure an early chance of getting off - Could I have even a rough List of your expected Emigrants for that Quarter it would in some degree enable me to shape so as to secure sufficient accommodation. There is reason to expect markets will be easier & therefore I will not do any thing in Flour for you till you let me know how you stand in that way, a little delay if you can admit of it may cause a saving of a few Pounds. 10 sacks of your seed were shipped by Thursdays Boat together with Peas & Rice for Mr. [Ludden?] Most truly yours Thos [Thomas?] Elliott Mr W. G. Smith |
