Transcript | To Mr W.G. Smith Carrickmacross Ireland From: Liverpool 19 May 1849 Dear William, I have got all your people off to Quebec yesterday. With exception of H. Grimes family Whose friend here would not allow them to proceed there. This is the Same person (Named Kieran) who wrote Mr Morant about 3 girls some time since. Nothing will do Grimes but go to Boston where children are charged almost the same as adults. and he has 4 children such Dogged Mules deserve little attention & yet cannot get along without considerable trouble in pushing them. The Clothing afair [affair?] has been my most troublesome fatiguing part of this affair time being so short & so much to be got done. I hope most sincerely such another Ragged pack may never appear here again The Shipping & probms [problems?] can be managed creditably, but the other part few would like to set about it. Thos [Thomas?] is preparing full particulars of all for your inspection This is the Queens Birth Day a Custom House Holiday We are all for off to see the Review & thence on the Railway with all the Youngsters C Jones included to have a Scamper at Aintry [Aintree?] Race Course-So much for Life in England excuse Haste &c T.Elliot |
